Fashioning Victoria: Curating A Royal Wardrobe

To celebrate the bicentenary of Queen Victoria’s birth join Montgomery's Inn curator Alexandra Kim as she talks about her experiences curating the wardrobe of Queen Victoria at Kensington Palace. Enjoy a discussion of a range of issues related to curating the wardrobe of one of history’s best-known queens and the way in which her image was – quite literally – fashioned by the clothes that she wore. Images showing a variety of garments worn by the queen, including her famous wedding and mourning dresses, will be complemented by pictures giving the audience a sense of the behind-the-scenes including caring for the garments and making them accessible through public display. Before the presentation enjoy tea, coffee and cookies. Montgomery's Inn is one of 10 Toronto History Museums which explore where Toronto's many pasts, presents and futures meet. The museum highlights the historical role played by the inn as a tavern, farm, local gathering place and community hub in the development and history of Etobicoke.
